Description
The
Basic Turkish Course is designed as an introductory course to learning Turkish.
The main aim of the course is gaining basic level grammar knowledge and
vocabulary in parallel with improving reading, writing and speaking skills. In
addition, by providing students with basic information on Turkish culture, the
course also aims to enable students to communicate at basic level in their
daily lives.
Purpose

The
primary goal of the A1 level Turkish Course is to improve students’ receptive
and communicative skills at basic level determined by the CEFR and increase
their personal confidence levels through interactive lessons while using the
target language.
This
module also aims to form a firm basis for learners’ professional studies and
consequently for their professional needs in real life and work in the long
run. This is realized as A1 at Breakthrough level according to CEFR (Common
European Framework of Reference for Languages).
The
main objectives of the module are:
•
to provide materials for the students to learn pronunciation of the Turkish
sounds, to learn to read, write, and to know the fundamentals of Turkish
grammar and vocabulary;
•
enhance the students' awareness of grammar and vocabulary;
•
to develop the students' reading skills at basic level so that they are able to
recognise familiar words and phrases concerning familiar topics such as their
family, house and work;
•
to develop the students' writing skills to enable them to produce short, simple
texts such as postcards, emails and notes and fill in forms such as hotel
registration form;
•
to develop the students' listening skills to enable them to understand and
apply specific information from the input (within the framework of A1
(Breakthrough) level);
•
to develop the students' speaking skills to enable them to use simple phrases
and sentences to talk about familiar topics.

Learning

The module is organized in a structure where students will be able to:
